1984 more lovely tactics

Another great tactic that the dictatorship uses is the creation of an outside enemy. By creating an outside enemy the people have someone to be angry about to yell down to blame for any hardships. This makes it so the people turn more away from the issues at hand in their own country and look constantly at events that are happening in other countries. By having the individuals be blinded to these events they become easier to manipulate by the dictatorship
One important thing the do is they constantly brainwash peoples children to spy on their parents. this creates further distrust and makes it so there is no bond between the family to unite them against anyone especially the government. Also it is a great way to weed out any possible parents who are disloyal to the party. And teaches the youth to be loyal to the party from a very young age.
The party constantly works on changing the dictionary to shorten and get rid of numerous words and concepts. The ultimate goal is to change peoples minds and perceptions of the world. So that thoughts of freedom are impossible because the concept of freedom would no longer exist. It shrinks the mind so that humans think less and less and become more of machines every day. They just do task after task to achieve the betterment of society. By changing  dictionary in reducing the words you become more blinded and think less and less outside of what the party wants you to think.

  1. Exactly! They become more like mindless machines, or animals... A good example would be when Winston hears that man "quacking." He's really not saying anything, just spitting back mindless thoughts given to him by the Party.
